The birth and religion of Kabir Das are not clear to historians. There are various versions of his birth.
According to version 1 - He was born to an unwed woman in Varanasi by a seedless conception and delivered through the palm of her hand. The religion of the women is not clear. After his birth, the mother abandoned him in a basket in a river/pond. He was then picked and raised by a Muslim family.
Another version 2, he was born in a Hindu family, and after his birth, his parents were converted to Islam.
Another version 3, he was born and brought up in a family of Muslim weavers.
Nobody (at the time of writing this article) could confirm which version is accurate. So, the statement that Kabir was Hindu is a false statement.
Both Hindus and Muslims followed Saint Kabir. Hence, he has both temples and Mazars. According to Wikipedia, he has two temples located in Banaras. One is maintained by Hindus while the other by Muslims.
A story in the Biography of Kabir claims that after his death, Hindus and Muslims were fighting for his last rituals. But, when they removed the sheet from his dead body, they found only flowers. They distributed the flowers among them and performed their last rituals according to their traditions.
The religion of Sai Baba is also not clear to Historians. There are various beliefs about his birth and religion.
Belief 1 - Sai Baba was born in a small village Patri in Maharashtra, to a boatman called Ganga Bhavadia and his wife, Devagiriamma. It has been mentioned in a book named Sai Baba of Shirdi and in the eighth edition of Sai Baba's biography 'Sri Sai Satcharitra.'
Belief 2 - Sai Baba was born in Tamil Nadu. His mother's name was Vaishnavdevi, and his father's name was Abdul Sattar. Indian Express published an article about it.
Belief 3 - He was born in Patri in a Brahmin family. While he was a child, his parents handed him over to the care of a fakir who brought him up. As he was living in a Mosque with fakir, people tend to mistake him for a Muslim.
Sai baba not only has temples, but he also has Mosques. Dwarkamai Masjid is one of them where he used to live.
